About the Unit of Competency
This course is suitable for Corporate Frontline/General transport and logistics staff, drivers, and operators – particularly those who operate under the National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme (NHVAS).
This unit of competency supports the Basic and Advanced Fatigue Risk Management schemes requirement for Heavy Vehicles under the National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme (NHVAS). It provides the skills and knowledge required to apply fatigue management strategies within the transport and logistics industry.
To operate under the National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme (NHVAS) , operators may need their drivers, staff and operators to complete fatigue units of competency offered by approved Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), however, this is only one of the criteria. Prospective applicants should check with the NHVR before undertaking training and/or assessment.
Successfully complete this course to obtain the nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the unit TLIF0005 Apply a fatigue risk management system.
You will learn how to identify and act on signs of fatigue and implement appropriate strategies to minimise fatigue during work activities.
This course provides participants with the knowledge and skills to:

Identify and manage fatigue risk in the road transport sector;

Operate within a road transport fatigue risk management system;

Plan and navigate a heavy vehicle trip;

Comply with work and rest hours; and,

Update and maintain records.
Outcome
Successful completion of TLIF0005 - Apply a fatigue risk management system:

May lead to employment opportunities in the transport and logistic industry, mining and construction industry, and WHS roles.

As a result, drivers will work in and provide a much safer workplace for themselves and others.

You will learn the relevant knowledge, roles and responsibilities required to understand, recognise and manage fatigue as a heavy vehicle driver.

Achieve a nationally recognised Units of Competence (UOC).

Have a unit that can contribute towards a nationally recognised full qualification.

Successful completion of the unit of competency ensures you comply with the National Heavy Vehicle Legislation and National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme (NHVAS) requirements.

Duration
This Unit of Competency can be completed in 1-2 days, dependent on the student's experience, Credit Transfer (CT) or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Apply for CT or RPL during enrolment.
