Certificate III
in Individual Support

Our CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support prepares workers for providing tailored support to individuals in community or residential environments, considering their unique needs and exercising professional judgement. This role builds accountability and responsibility for achieving expected outcomes. Workers have both practical and theoretical knowledge to provide person-centred support.

 

Upon successfully completing this nationally recognised qualification, students may be able to;

  • Improve workplace communication skills and provide person-centred support,

  • Demonstrate safe work practices for direct client care, and

  • Understand day-to-day activities in health and community care industries.

CAREER PROSPECTS

Successful completion of the CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support may lead to employment opportunities, including;

  • Disability Support Worker, 

  • Care Service Team Leader,

  • Assistant in Nursing,

  • Home Care Assistant, and

  • Personal Care Worker.

ASSESSMENT

We use a range of assessment methods for this qualification, including:

  • Short answers;

  • Projects;

  • Activities; and

  • Workplace Observation or Observation in a Simulated Workplace.

DURATION AND MODE

Duration:

This qualification can be completed in twelve months. The volume of learning offered by J2S Training Solutions may vary per student depending on their existing skills and knowledge. More experienced students are likely to complete the course in a shorter period of time. The duration may vary depending on Credit Transfer [CT] or Recognition of Prior Learning [RPL]. Students can apply for CT or RPL at the time of enrolment

 

Delivery:

Delivery of training may take differing forms, including Face-to-Face and Online, depending on the requirements of the Client or the needs of the cohort.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 

There are no entry requirements for this qualification however prior to enrolment, students are required to provide their:

  • Two forms of Photo Identification

  • Medicare Card

  • Unique Student Identifier, and ​

  • Completion of an LLN assessment (as part of the enrolment application).

 

HOW DO I CREATE MY USI?

WORK PLACEMENT

 

This training program includes a minimum of 120 hours of work placement.

Queensland Work Placement requirements: 

  • National Police Check clearance certificate,

  • Yellow Card for disability worker screening,

  • Blue Card for working with children, and

  • Current vaccination records may be required.

New South Wales Work Placement requirements: 

  • National Police Check clearance certificate,

  • NDIS Worker Check (NDISWC), and

  • Working with Children Check (WWCC).

  • Current vaccination records may be required.

 

Applications for these clearances are made on an individual basis directly to the relevant government department. Application fees may apply.

This nationally recognised training is delivered by J2S Training Solutions, RTO ID 90940 ABN 66 107 687 196. This qualification consists of 15 units of competency, including 9 core and 6 elective units of competency from one of the specialisations.

Students must select either the General, Disability, or Ageing specialisation.

Fees & Charges

FEE FOR SERVICE

If you are ineligible for government subsidised training, or would rather undertake this course on a fee-for-service (FFS) basis, the cost to undertake this nationally recognised qualification is:

  • $6,500

J2S Training Solutions does not accept upfront payments of more than $1,500. If a student’s fee is more than this amount, the support of a flexible payment plan will be offered to students.

ADDITIONAL FEES

  • Deferment Fee (administration charges) $50

  • Replacement of Testamur/ statement of attainment / Qualification Certificate $50

  • Repeat of unit (Third attempt onwards Per unit) $150

QLD FEES

This program is subsidised by the Queensland government, under the Certificate 3 Guarantee Program. The following Student Co-Contribution fees apply, varying based on student eligibility status: 

 

Concession: $22.50 per qualification

Non-concession: $45 per qualification

​To to be eligible for funding, students must be:

  • Queensland residents

  • Aged 15 or older and not currently attending school

  • Australian/New Zealand citizens, Australian permanent residents (including humanitarian entrants), or temporary residents on the path to permanent residency

  • Not already holding or enrolled in a certificate III or higher qualification (excluding school and foundation skills training).

 

Fee exemptions may apply and is conditional on the Government Policy and Funding Arrangements, subject to eligibility. By undertaking this qualification subsidised by the Queensland government, you will no longer be eligible for another government subsidised place in that same program.
